Overview

BAOTI operates Nadcap-accredited vacuum heat treatment furnaces for stress relieving, annealing, solution treating, and aging of titanium alloys.

Our vacuum furnaces eliminate surface contamination and ensure uniform temperature distribution for consistent mechanical properties across the entire workpiece.

All heat treatment processes are controlled by calibrated thermocouples and chart recorders with full AMS 2750 pyrometric compliance.

Our Capabilities

Comprehensive heat treatment solutions backed by 50+ years of titanium expertise.

Vacuum Annealing

High-vacuum annealing at 10⁻⁵ mbar to relieve residual stress without surface oxidation. Furnace work zone up to 3m × 2m × 2m.

Solution Treating & Aging (STA)

Precision controlled heating, water or gas quenching, and aging for Ti-6Al-4V and other alpha-beta alloys to achieve peak strength.

Stress Relieving

Low-temperature stress relief (480–650°C) for welded and machined titanium components to minimize residual stress and distortion.

Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP)

HIP processing at 2000 bar, 1000°C to close internal porosity in castings and powder metallurgy parts. Improves fatigue life by 10×.

Hydrogen Degassing

Vacuum degassing to reduce hydrogen content below 50 ppm, preventing delayed hydride cracking in thick-section titanium.

Controlled Atmosphere

Argon atmosphere furnaces for parts too large for vacuum furnaces. Oxygen monitored below 100 ppm throughout cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is vacuum heat treatment required for titanium?
Titanium reacts with oxygen and nitrogen at elevated temperatures, forming brittle alpha-case. Vacuum processing prevents contamination and preserves surface integrity.
What is the maximum part size you can heat treat?
Our largest vacuum furnace accommodates parts up to 3m × 2m × 2m. For larger parts, we use controlled argon atmosphere furnaces.
What is the difference between annealing and STA?
Annealing (700-790°C) relieves stress and improves ductility. Solution Treating & Aging (STA) involves higher temperatures (900-960°C) followed by rapid quench and aging to achieve maximum strength in alpha-beta alloys like Ti-6Al-4V.
Do you hold Nadcap accreditation for heat treatment?
Yes, our heat treatment facility is Nadcap-accredited with merit status. We comply with AMS 2750 pyrometry and AMS 2769 for titanium alloy stress relief and annealing.
Can you heat treat customer-supplied parts?
Yes, we provide heat treatment as a standalone service for customer-furnished parts. We require material certificates and specific heat treatment requirements (AMS, customer spec, or drawing callout).
