Our Capabilities

Comprehensive surface treatment solutions backed by 50+ years of titanium expertise.

Pickling & Passivation

HF-HNO₃ acid pickling to remove oxide scale and alpha-case layer. Restores corrosion resistance after heat treatment or welding. ASTM B600 compliant.

Anodizing (Type II & III)

Type II color anodizing for identification. Type III hard anodize for wear resistance. Colors per AMS 2488 specification.

Polishing & Grinding

Mechanical polishing to mirror finish Ra ≤ 0.2μm for medical and decorative applications. Belt grinding for flatness and thickness correction.

Alpha-Case Removal

Controlled chemical milling to remove oxygen-enriched surface layer after high-temperature processing. Critical for fatigue-sensitive aerospace parts.

Bead Blasting

Glass bead and ceramic media blasting for uniform matte surface finish. Controlled peening for residual compressive stress.

Electropolishing

Electrolytic polishing for ultra-clean surfaces on medical implants and semiconductor components. Removes micro-burrs and improves corrosion resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is alpha-case and why does it need removal?
Alpha-case is an oxygen-enriched brittle surface layer that forms when titanium is exposed to air at high temperatures. It must be removed for fatigue-critical aerospace parts.
Can you anodize titanium to specific colors?
Yes, titanium anodizing produces interference colors (blue, purple, gold, green) by controlling voltage. We match colors per AMS 2488 or customer color samples.
What surface finish can you achieve on titanium?
From rough bead-blasted matte (Ra 3.2μm) to mirror-polished (Ra ≤ 0.2μm). Electropolished finishes for medical implants and semiconductor applications are also available.
Is pickling required after welding titanium?
Yes, pickling is strongly recommended after welding to remove heat tint, oxide discoloration, and any surface contamination from the weld zone. It restores the passive oxide film for maximum corrosion resistance.
Can you treat large fabricated assemblies?
Yes, our pickling tanks accommodate parts up to 6m long. For oversized assemblies, we offer spray pickling and local surface treatment options.
